Link Building Tips To Make Your Blog Rank Higher-2

In my previous post, I have mentioned 6 tips on how to build links to help your blog rank higher in the search engine results. I’d like to continue it with 7 more tips as given below.

1. Link building through traditional media

Traditional media makes good use of the web, so you shouldn’t ignore it when building links. You can contact journalists through social networks and comment on their blogs. You may also comment on news websites and establish your online presence. This helps you to build professional relationships that can later on help you to create link building opportunities.
Another initiative that you should take is referring to mainstream media stories in your content. Mainstream journalists do spend a lot of time online. So, there’s a fair chance that they may notice those referring to their content. This can lead to link building opportunities, especially if you cover topics that interest the mainstream media.

2. Use tools to share and monitor your content

Blog content management systems offer a number of plugins and tools which you can use to promote your blog’s reach and monitor its performance. Once your blog gets promoted across a wide section of the web, you’ll find it easier to build links. Some of the tools that you should use are:
WP Tweet Button: It enables your readers to share your posts with their followers in Twitter. So, your posts get more exposure.
Feedburner Widget: It is a WordPress plugin that helps to create the Feedburner subscribers stats button. This is used when you want to distribute your blog RSS Feed effectively.
Google Analyticator: It helps to integrate your Google Analytics traffic report into your blog admin panel.

3. Look for niche blogs and post your comments

You can search blogs dealing with your subject area and put in your comments with links to related posts on your blog. Your comments should appear to be valuable for the readers there. It shouldn’t give the impression that you’re doing it just to add links to your blog. Comments are a great way to get something more than just links. Through comments, you can increase the level of interaction with fellow bloggers. This adds value to your online presence through a third person who can help to promote your blog by referring it to those who’re a part of his social network.

4. Linking through your online bio

Apart from linking to your blog URL from your online bio, you can add links to some other blogs/websites that have earlier linked to your blog. When these web pages rank higher in search engines, they help to pass on the link juice to your pages as well. This helps your blog pages to rank higher and get noticed by users across the search engine results page.

5. Links through Press release submission

There are a number of press release submission sites like PRWeb, PR Leap, etc. where you can post press releases on your blog or the product/service you promote through your blog. You should link back to your blog from within the content of the press release. It is better to optimize the press release with certain keywords. This is because the higher your press release gets ranked, the more visitors it’ll drive to your blog. Some press release submission sites will need you to pay fees for submission whereas others may not.

6. Make use of link baiting

The concept of link baiting is to create content on a topic which people would like to know and share with each other. You can start off by writing a blog post on any topic that can go viral. Then you create a video/audio podcast on the same topic and submit it on video submission sites or podcast directories. You can prepare a SlideShare presentation on that topic and link to the blog post you’ve written on that topic.
Next, you can share your blog post along various social media platforms and make way for others to promote it. This is how you promote your blog post across the web using various social media outlets. So, the more people know about it, the higher are the chances of people talking about it and linking to your post. This option of getting linked naturally by others on the web is known as link baiting.

7. Three-way linking vs. reciprocal linking

Reciprocal linking is not much effective as they give the impression of spammy-looking pages which include links along with descriptions. A better approach to building links for your blog is three way linking. In three-way linking, you request a link from blog X to your blog Y. In return, you give a link to blog X from your blog Z. While you go for this, just make sure blogs X, Y and Z belong to the same niche.
While you build links, try placing the links to your blog within the content. This actually looks more natural to the search engines. Of course, the page that links to your blog should have good page rank so that the link juice passes on to your blog.
As far as placing paid links on other websites are concerned, they aren’t helpful in making your blog rank higher. That’s because paid links such as banner ads, text links under the “Sponsored listings” category or those on the blog footer are not preferred by search engines. If you still want to buy links for better ranking, have them placed within the content so that they don’t look like paid links at all.
